RG&E Relaunches Workforce Program with The Arc of Monroe
Long-term program employs people supported by The Arc of Monroe; offers employment for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — June 12, 2025 — Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) is relaunching a program it began in 1992. The Investment Recovery Program partners with The Arc of Monroe’s Job Path program, providing employment and guided support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Arc of Monroe empowers people to live integrated lives and reach their full potential in the community.
“This is a great program for the community,” said Tracy Selby, coordinator of RG&E’s Investment Recovery Program. “It’s a chance for participants to be involved and learn new skills. This program was successful 33 years ago, and we want to continue providing support and offering a positive experience.”
“It’s partnerships like these that help The Arc of Monroe further its mission. We want to see the people we support thrive in the communities they live in,” said Luke Mayo, Director of Business Relations for The Arc’s Job Path program. “This program gives them the opportunity to gain new skills and take part in competitive employment.”
The program employs two participants from The Arc of Monroe’s Job Path program. They will work at RG&E’s Scottsville Road facility five days a week, sorting materials off of utility poles, such as copper and different metals, for recycling. Job Path has been creating connections to employment opportunities in the Rochester area for more than 40 years and was the first to establish employment services for people with disabilities in the Western New York region.
In 1992, a small work group from The Arc of Monroe began working at RG&E, providing recycling services for various line parts. The program continues as part of the Company’s commitment to the community, recognizing the value people of all abilities have to contribute to society.
