RG&E Hosting Series of Community Connection Events This Week
Customers can connect with county officials to apply for HEAP benefits, and customer service representatives can help with energy affordability options
HEAP available until funds are exhausted; customers encouraged to apply for assistance
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — February 23, 2026 — Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) is hosting a series of Community Connection events in the Rochester area this week, starting February 24 at the Gates Town Hall. Events are scheduled in the City of Rochester and Webster later this week. The events are designed to help customers find resources available to help manage their monthly energy costs.
RG&E is partnering with Monroe County. A county representative will be at outreach events to support accepting and processing applications for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). HEAP is a federally funded program that helps eligible households cover energy costs.
Customers can arrive any time during the event. There is no formal presentation.

An RG&E customer representative will be available to answer questions and help customers understand their bills and the tools to better manage energy use. Customer advocates can help determine if customers qualify for the Energy Assistance program (EAP) or the Enhanced Affordability Program (EEAP), which offers an additional monthly bill credit for customers. Representatives can help with other financial assistance, including budget billing and payment plans.
RG&E remains committed to the communities it serves, providing assistance to all who need it. The Company will schedule more in-person events and encourages customers in need of assistance to call customer service at 800.743.2110. Customers can also explore tools and programs available at the Help With Your Bill page.
Customers are encouraged to apply for HEAP assistance. Funds are available until exhausted. For more information on how to apply for HEAP or Emergency HEAP, including the necessary income qualifications, customers are urged to visit the New York State OTDA website.
