RG&E Hosting HEAP Outreach Event with Monroe County

Customers encouraged to apply for HEAP benefits for assistance while funds are available

Customers can connect with county officials to apply for HEAP benefits, while customer service representatives can help with energy affordability options

ROCHESTER, N.Y. —March 30, 2026 — Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) is partnering with Monroe County to host a Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) outreach event. HEAP and emergency HEAP applications will be accepted and processed at the event at RG&E’s West Avenue walk-in office in Rochester on Wednesday, April 1. HEAP is a federally funded program that helps eligible households cover energy costs. The events are designed to help customers find resources available to help manage those costs.

A Monroe County staff member will be on-site to support accepting and processing applications for HEAP and Emergency HEAP benefits. An RG&E customer advocate will be available to answer questions and help customers understand their bills and the tools to better manage energy use. Customer advocates can help determine if customers qualify for the Energy Assistance program (EAP) or the Enhanced Affordability Program (EEAP), which offers an additional monthly bill credit for customers. Representatives can help with other financial assistance, including budget billing and payment plans.
