RG&E Employees Donate Food for Families Impacted by Disruption of SNAP Benefits

Food delivered to Father Tracy Advocacy Center for Thanksgiving
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — November 25, 2025 — Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) is lending a hand to customers impacted by the disruption of SNAP benefits due to the government shutdown. RG&E employees collected more than 1,200 canned goods to donate to Father Tracy Advocacy Center in Rochester for the Thanksgiving holiday.
“Food is a necessity. We recognized the government shutdown impacted many families in our community,” said RG&E President Al Langland. “It was important for our employees to give back to offer additional support to area agencies that provide essential services to residents in need.”
The Father Tracy Advocacy Center provides a variety of free services to the Rochester community, including housing, employment help, a clothing center, and access to benefits such as SNAP. RG&E dropped off the donations this week, ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, to ensure families would have a meal to enjoy.
“The Father Tracy Advocacy Center extends our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible staff at RG&E for their generosity and commitment to our community this holiday season,” said Father Tracy Advocacy Center Executive Director Beatriz Lebron. “Your support ensures that families facing hardship feel seen, valued, and uplifted during a time when compassion matters most. We are truly grateful for your partnership and for standing with us in service to those who need it most.”
Additionally, employees who volunteered in the community through the Company’s “Energized for Good” volunteer rewards program generated a $15 donation each hour they served – contributions were made by the Avangrid Foundation, the philanthropic arm of RG&E’s parent company, Avangrid Inc. – totaling more than $1,300.
This initiative was part of a greater Avangrid-wide effort across 27 offices in Connecticut, Maine, New York, and Oregon for a total collection of more than 10,000 food items donated to 20 food pantries.
RG&E not only strives to strengthen an aging grid to improve reliability for customers, but is committed to the communities it serves, giving back and having a direct presence to help meet the needs of local residents.
