NYSEG and RG&E Hosting a Community Connection Event in Sodus This Week
Customers in Sodus and Geneva service areas can connect with county officials to apply for HEAP benefits, while customer service representatives can help with energy affordability options
HEAP available until funds are exhausted; customers encouraged to apply for assistance
SODUS, N.Y. — March 23, 2026 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) are hosting a Community Connection event in Sodus on Thursday, March 26, at the Wallington Fire Department. The event is designed to help customers find resources available to help manage their monthly energy costs.
NYSEG and RG&E are also partnering with the Wayne County Department of Social Services. A county representative will be at the outreach event to support accepting and processing applications for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). HEAP is a federally funded program that helps eligible households cover energy costs.
Customers can arrive any time during the event. There is no formal presentation.

A customer representative will be available to answer questions and help customers understand their bills and the tools to better manage energy use. Customer advocates can help determine if customers qualify for the Energy Assistance program (EAP) or the Enhanced Affordability Program (EEAP), which offers an additional monthly bill credit for customers. Representatives can help with other financial assistance, including budget billing and payment plans.

Customers are encouraged to apply for HEAP assistance. Funds are available until exhausted. For more information on how to apply for HEAP or Emergency HEAP, including the necessary income qualifications, customers are urged to visit the New York State OTDA website.
