Initiatives developed in partnership with NY Public Service Commission

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — May 28, 2026 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) have delivered monthly bill credits to nearly 150,000 customers enrolled in the Energy Affordability Program (EAP) and Enhanced Energy Affordability Program (EEAP). Both initiatives were developed in partnership with the New York Public Service Commission and provide essential, direct relief to customers.
“No customer should have to choose between paying their utility bill and covering basic household needs,” said Christine Alexander, vice president of customer service for NYSEG and RG&E. “These assistance programs offer an immediate relief to eligible individuals and families and help keep energy service affordable. It’s critical that these programs continue to be funded in order to ensure that families have continued access to safe and reliable energy.”
EAP is a program designed to help low-income customers manage their energy bill. Enrollment for this program is open year-round. Customers receiving qualifying assistance from programs like Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Federal Public Housing Assistance, and other programs may qualify for EAP.
EEAP is intended for moderate-income households to reduce their energy burden. It is available to eligible households that do not qualify or aren’t currently enrolled in any EAP-accepted programs.
NYSEG customers are encouraged to learn more and sign up for programs at www.nyseg.com/helpwithbill. RG&E customers are encouraged to visit www.rge.com/helpwithbill. The Companies have held 37 community connections events in 2026 that have been attended by more than 800 customers, including two events this week in Rochester. These events are intended to assist customers with their bills by promoting programs such as EAP and EEAP.
