BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — May 29, 2026 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) continue strengthening their collaboration with community organizations to reach vulnerable households. This is part of the Companies’ commitment to putting communities first and improving the customer experience.

So far this year, NYSEG and RG&E have hosted 37 Community Connection events across their service areas, partnering with approximately 20 agencies with the goal of connecting customers with resources. The Companies’ Customer Service representatives and advocate teams have engaged with more than 800 customers at these events.

“We know how important access is. Our Companies value the opportunity to connect with our customers in their communities,” said Patricia Nilsen, CEO of NYSEG and RG&E. “These interactions provide an opportunity for customers to ask questions and get needed support one-on-one, ensuring they leave feeling heard and informed.”

The events are designed to connect customers with financial assistance through the Department of Social Services in the counties we serve, while also providing information to help manage monthly energy costs with support from our Energy Efficiency teams and environmental community partners.

NYSEG and RG&E offer a variety of financial assistance options. Customers may qualify for bill credits, including the Enhanced Energy Affordability Program (EEAP). It’s a two-year pilot program created by New York State that can help moderate-income customers reduce energy costs through discounts on their bills. Households are eligible for EEAP if they have an income below the state’s median income and do not qualify for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) or the Energy Affordability Program (EAP).

For more information on bill assistance programs, please visit www.nyseg.com/helpwithbill or www.rge.com/helpwithbill. Customers are also encouraged to contact customer service at 800.572.1111 (NYSEG) or 800.743.2110 (RG&E) to learn about other bill relief options.
