Reliability Upgrades
As part of our commitment to provide safe, reliable service to all of our customers, Rochester Gas & Electric (RG&E) is updating our delivery system in our service areas. While we are investing in upgrades to meet the community’s growing energy demands, we are working closely with our neighbors to ensure that all improvements are performed safely and with minimal disruption to the environment and the communities we serve.
Project Scope
To comply with more stringent reliability standards issued at the federal level a new 115kV transmission line (L949) between Station 48 and Station 418 is being installed. Additionally, an expansion of both Station 48 and Station 418 is necessary to accommodate the proposed new Line 949.
The Station 48 expansion and the corresponding Line 949 installation are the only two project upgrades required in the City of Rochester to fulfill the newly defined compliance standards, while Station 418 upgrades will be performed in the Town of Gates as a first step towards appropriate compliance.
