RG&E Upgrades Mount Morris Circuit

Investments to bring enhanced reliability to approximately 2,000 customers

ROCHESTER, NY — December 28, 2020 — Rochester Gas & Electric (RG&E) announced today that it has recently completed circuit upgrades in Mount Morris on Route 408 on the company’s L753 circuit, which delivers power to customers’ homes and businesses. The project upgraded roughly three miles of power lines and will bring enhanced reliability to approximately 2,000 customers.

“We thank RG&E for updating their system and keeping our lights on in the Town,” said David DiSalvo, Mount Morris Deputy Town Supervisor.

This work is part of the company’s commitment to provide safe, reliable service to all of its customers. The upgraded three miles of wire will provide increased reliability during storms with adverse conditions, such as high winds and lightening. Additionally, the project replaced more than 80 poles that had an average age of more than 45 years. The new poles are more resilient to wind damage and taller to meet current standards.

“RG&E is committed to continued investments to improve our systems and to ensure its resiliency against future storm events,” said Mark Anderson, Project Manager at RG&E. “Our customers rely on us to provide them with the power that they need, when they need it. We take that responsibility seriously. This segment of the circuit was identified for upgrades because the structures had reached their life expectancy. These proactive upgrades will improve the reliability of the line for our customers and help to lessen the impact of harsh weather.”

The L753 circuit upgrades in Mount Morris began in early summer. It is one of the several local reliability investments RG&E is making to update and improve its systems using the latest technologies and materials. All upgrades focus on meeting the region’s growing energy demands and providing customers with reliable, high-quality power.
