Scheduled Electricity Interruption in Park and East Avenue Area
Rochester, NY, February 25, 2008 – We have scheduled a service interruption from midnight until 5 a.m. Tuesday, February 26 to enable the company to safely perform required work on its underground power distribution equipment in the Park and East Avenue area.
As is our standard practice, customers affected by the scheduled interruption were notified by letter five business days prior to the scheduled work. We originally anticipated that 900 customers would be affected; however we managed to reduce that number to approximately 400. Customers on the following streets who received the notification will now not be affected:
Audubon Street, Beverly Street, Calumet Street, Colby Street, Culver Road,
Darwin Street, Douglas Road, Ericsson Street, Faraday Street, Girard Street, and
420 to 634 Harvard Street.
RG&E is engaged in ongoing effort to upgrade its facilities to improve the safety and reliability of its system and allow for growth in the communities we serve. In this instance, we have completed installation of new underground cable to best meet the needs of customers in this area. The purpose of this scheduled interruption is to place the new line in service.
We have assigned the maximum number of crews to safely complete this project in the least amount of time. The actual duration of the outage may be less than scheduled.
We schedule system improvements year round, and many of these improvements require scheduled service interruptions. We make every effort to schedule them at times that provide the least inconvenience to our customers. Our experience has been that customers generally find overnight work to be the least inconvenient.
If you are unsure whether you are affected by this scheduled interruption, you can call our electric interruption number, 1.800.743.1701.
