RG&E Sponsors Alternative Fuel Vehicle Exhibit at Greentopia Festival
Rochester, NY – RG&E is proud to be a sponsor of the first Greentopia Festival, which will paint the High Falls district “green” this weekend and give Rochesterians a unique glimpse into the benefits of living a sustainable lifestyle.  In addition, RG&E will host the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Exhibit where festival goers can compare more than 21 low-emission/alternative-fuel/high-efficiency vehicles from manufacturers around the world – all in one place, and a first for Western New York.

RG&E will be giving guided tours of its Browns Race “rack-house”; part of RG&E’s hydroelectric generating station on the Genesee River at High Falls. Customers who take the tour can learn more about our 100+ year history of generating clean, renewable hydro power right in downtown Rochester.

Festival goers who visit the RG&E exhibit can get a free, energy saving compact fluorescent lamp, just for stopping by. They can also learn more about our energy efficiency rebate and incentive programs including our refrigerator/freezer recycling program - where we pay you $30 to take away your old freezer or refrigerator.

RG&E customers who stop in and sign up for our eco-friendly e-bill service will also receive an additional compact fluorescent lamp.

“We’re pleased to be part of the Greentopia Festival, and happy to provide this opportunity for our customers to explore ways to live healthier and more sustainable lives,” said Mark S. Lynch, president of NYSEG and RG&E.

The Greentopia Festival runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, September 17-18 at High Falls.  Admission is free.
