CA$HBACK plus is an opportunity to receive a guaranteed payment for reducing electricity demand, on request, to help ensure the continued reliability of the New York State power grid.

Customers who sign up for CA$HBACK plus must have a minimum of 100 kilowatsof curtailable load or "behind-the-meter" generation. They will receive advance notification of the need to reduce electricity use and must curtail load for at least four hours per request.

Participating is as easy as 1-2-3!

1. Sign up for Energy Profiler Online (optional) > Energy Profiler Online (EPO) is a powerful Internet-based energy management tool that provides you with in-depth information about your business' electricity use. It enables you to make strategic decisions that can enhance your bottom line.
2. Sign a CA$HBACK plus Contract > A contract lasts 6 months. (The winter contract period is November through April and the summer contract period is May through October). A one hour test of your ability to reduce load is required during the contract period. To participate in CA$HBACK plus you are required to reduce demand when asked to do so. Customers using self-generation to reduce load must meet Department of Environmental Conservation regulations and permitting.
3. Get paid > Receive a guaranteed payment for signing up for CA$HBACK plus.
