RG&E Completes Power Restoration
Rochester, NY – RG&E, a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, finished restoring power at about 2 a.m. to all customers who lost service after a fast-moving winter storm rolled through western New York yesterday and damaged the company’s electricity delivery system.
RG&E estimates more than 17,500 customers lost power at some point during the storm that dropped 6” – 10” of wet, heavy snow and toppled trees, knocked down 216 power lines and fractured 12 utility poles across its service area.
“On behalf of RG&E, I want to express my sincere thanks to the more than 350 people, some of whom canceled vacation plans, who quickly and safely repaired our system and restored power to our customers in less than 24 hours,” said Mark S. Lynch, president of NYSEG and RG&E. “Thanks also to local officials, law enforcement, and fire and highway department personnel for your help that made our job much easier.”
