RG&E Leak Surveys Help Ensure Continued Safe, Reliable Natural Gas Service
– RG&E, a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, is conducting its annual natural gas leak survey, an important tool to ensure continued safe and reliable service. The surveys should be completed by August 31.
RG&E surveys 1/3 of its 4,700 miles of natural gas distribution pipe annually, which meets or exceeds federal and New York State requirements. Heath Consultants of Houston is assisting RG&E with this inspection.
This year, RG&E employees have completed or will be conducting walking surveys in the towns of Castile, Chili, Greece, Hamlin, Irondequoit, Kendall, Scottsville, Wheatland, York, and the town and village of Perry. Heath employees have completed or will be conducting walking surveys in the towns of Avon, Bergen, Byron, Gates, Hilton, Parma, Penfield, Perinton, Ogden, Sweden, and the town and village of Pittsford.
Workers conducting the surveys will be checking natural gas mains as well as natural gas services on customers’ properties. RG&E and Heath employees also may ask to enter a residence or business if they are investigating a leak.
RG&E employees carry proper identification; Heath employees have an RG&E contractor photo ID.
Any RG&E customer who has doubts about someone claiming to be an RG&E employee or contractor should ask the person for the name and phone number of their supervisor. RG&E employees and contractors will be glad to wait while a customer contacts the person’s supervisor.
