Interested in helping reduce electricity demand and want to receive payment for doing so? Our CA$HBACK Emergency Demand Response Program (EDRP) is designed for you.
- One step in reducing stress on the power grid is to implement CA$HBACK, a voluntary program that rewards commercial, industrial and institutional customers who can reduce their electricity load by at least 100 kilowatts.
- Customers who sign up for CA$HBACK will receive at least one hour's notification of the need to reduce electricity use, and the curtailment period usually lasts at least four hours. Payments are typically 45 cents per kilowatt-hour (kwh) or more for each kwh not consumed.
- We will credit your utility bill based on the price per kwh for the curtailment period and the number of kwh not consumed.
- Because this is a voluntary program, you are not obligated to reduce your electricity use each time CA$HBACK is implemented and there are no penalties.
