NYSEG and RG&E Continue to Make Steady Progress Toward Full Restoration of Customers After Powerful Windstorm
ROCHESTER, NEW YORK — April 6, 2018 12:00 p.m. — NYSEG and RG&E, subsidiaries of AVANGRID (NYSE: AGR), are working 24/7 to restore power to the remaining customers impacted by Wednesday’s powerful windstorm. NYSEG and RG&E have restored power to 95% of the more than 126,000 customers impacted by the windstorm that swept across the State.
Considerable progress was made by the resources working in the affected areas statewide. The vast majority of the remaining customers without power will be restored today, Friday, April 6 by 11:45 p.m. with the exception of scattered outages remaining in the hardest hit areas in western New York with estimated restoration times targeted for 11:45 p.m. Saturday, April 7. The Companies have deployed additional resources to Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Wayne and Wyoming counties in NYSEG’s service territory and Monroe and Wayne counties served by RG&E. NYSEG and RG&E are also monitoring forecasts that call for wind gusts of 50-55 mph in western New York starting this afternoon and continuing into Saturday morning.
After a storm, the Companies’ immediate concern is public safety and seek to make effective use of resources. A combined workforce of more than 1,500 have been hard at work addressing over 2,400 downed lines and approximately 100 broken poles statewide.
