NYSEG and RG&E Send Crews to Pennsylvania to Assist with Storm Recovery
Rochester, NY – Thirty-two line crews along with supervisors, safety specialists, mechanics and logistics specialists from NYSEG and RG&E, subsidiaries of Iberdrola USA, departed for Pennsylvania Thursday morning to assist in restoring power to PECO customers in the Philadelphia area. The entire NYSEG and RG&E contingent numbers 71.
Wednesday’s storm pummeled southeastern Pennsylvania with a mix of snow, ice and freezing rain that caused extensive damage to trees and electricity distribution equipment. PECO described it as “the second most damaging storm in PECO history.”
“Many companies from across the U.S. and Canada have helped NYSEG and RG&E recover from big storms in the past few years,” said Mark S. Lynch, president and CEO of NYSEG and RG&E. “Now, it’s our turn to help, and we’re happy and proud to do it.”
The workers from across the companies’ New York service area, including Rochester, Lancaster, Hornell, Elmira and Ithaca joined others in Binghamton, and left en masse for Pennsylvania early Thursday morning. They could be away from home for up to a week.
